In 2018, one of the most horrific crimes involving foreigners in the Philippines has happened. Wang Yalei, a 26-year-old Chinese woman, was found chopped and placed in different plastic bags at a condo unit on the 11th floor of The Lerato Residence Tower 1 in Makati City.

The victim's severed head and three limbs were found in separate shopping bags, while her torso and her right leg were placed in a suitcase beside the unit's toilet.

According to authorities, the motive behind the murder was a love triangle. The suspects on the case were her Chinese friends that were also at the crime scene.

The report happened after the condo's security was notified by the housekeeping that a bag containing pieces of body flesh and blood-soaked clothes, underwear, tissues, and kitchen knife were disposed of into the material recovery facility.

The police quickly went to the condominium and reviewed the CCTV footage showing a Chinese woman from the unit where the crime scene had thrown the bag into the garbage chute. The security then alerted the incident to the police.

Police arrested the suspects-two women, Zhang Chuning, Zhang Xi Xi, and a man, Zhang Chu Quan-who were about to leave the condominium. Authorities found in their possession were bags with the chopped parts of the victim.

Also arrested was another Chinese woman, Wang Xue, who arrived at the crime scene almost simultaneously as the police.

The victim and the suspects were having a drinking session at night, which lasted up to early midnight when roommates, Wang Yalei and Chuning, fought over a woman back in China.

Based on the suspects' testimonies, Wang tried to stab Chuning, but the latter was able to grab the knife from her and killed her in the process.

All suspects were arrested.
